Winter Afternoon on Prospect Mountain

Prospect Mountain is a "civilized" mountain in the southern Adirondacks.  There is a short 1.7 mile trail to the summit with an alternate road used by cars in the Spring/Summer/Fall and by snowmobiles during the winter.  This was a winter "shake-down" hike for us.  We haven't done much winter hiking since the snows began to accumulate in November.  The Northway and mountains near Lake George can be seen on the left.  The mechanical systems on the right are relics of a bygone era when one could ride to the summit in a gondola.
