Adirondacks: Just outside of Ft. Ticonderoga is the Cook Mountain Preserve with its modest 825 foot climb to Cook Mountain. The view in the distance from the summit is Lake George. The trail took us through hemlock and deciduous forests and into a frozen beaver marsh. Lightly falling snow at the viewpoint made for a winter fairyland.
